Rosemary Blackmore
Description
Rosemary Blackmore is an artist producing Paintings, Giclee Prints, Textiles, Bags and Scarves, Ceramics, Buttons, Garden Sculpture and Mural Work.
She was educated at The Jersey College for Girls after which she gained a B.A. Hons degree in Fine Art from Bath Academy of Art. On her return to Jersey she worked in the design department of The Jersey Pottery for some years.
After marriage and children she began painting again, mostly in watercolour, concentrating in particular, on the Jersey cow.
A commercial aspect to her work developed, by painting murals in hotels, restaurants, private homes and the airports where she was commissioned to paint two large murals of Jersey Cows. She has recently completed another mural in the new restaurant at the Moulin de Lecq Restaurant here in Jersey.
Textiles are another aspect of her work, making bags and scarves with wonderful yarns sourced from Australia and Italy and making and dying her own felt.
Last year she set up a pottery studio at home making wall panels and sculptures in metal and ceramics for garden and home.
She is a member of the 'Genuine Jersey' association which promotes quality, uniqueness and distinction reflecting the attributes of the island.
The colour, light and huge variety of textures which the beautiful island of Jersey provides influence all aspects of her work, providing endless raw material with its dramatically changing coast line.
